What collection methods are confirmed?
Introducing Main Sequence describes mining asteroids with your ship and installing mining drone bays on stations. Both can scale with available power. This establishes two supported collection approaches without supplying a universal extraction rate for every ore or equipment tier.

What should you compare before expanding?
Trace where the material goes after extraction. Additional mining is not helpful if the next machine lacks power or cannot pass its output onward. Compare the receiving inventory and the active recipe with the resource you are actually producing.
